San Bruno Mountain - Summit Loop

Sigrid and I went on a kid-free hike on San Bruno Mountain, along the Summit Loop.

Here are several panoramic shots I took early on:

This is about as far east as we got. I think that's Brisbane off in the distance.

Here we are, approaching the summit. This is where the radio towers are on the mountain. One of these carries the signal for NBC. It's all of four miles away from us, but for some reason we can't pick it up over the air.

The view to the southeast.

Sigrid and the antennas.

Michael, facing the antennas.

If we had brought a television with us, maybe now we'd be able to get NBC.

As we hiked around the west side of the loop, we could see Colma...

...and Daly City.

We also saw this large condo development (here it is in Google Maps).

Neither Sigrid nor I had been to San Bruno Mountain before. It's really easy to get to from the city, and the trails are pretty kid friendly. We may be back soon!

Uplands Park

On Boxing Day, we went for a hike through Uplands Park. We parked across the street from the park, and Anders gave a couple of balsa wood planes a try—one with rubber band power, one without. Here's the rubber band plane:

The we walked through Uplands Park.

Is this the end of Christmas stockings?

We exited the park in a different spot than we entered, approaching a monument that turned out to be a war memorial.

As we walked back to the car, I took this photo in "high dynamic range" mode on my phone, with a pretty cool result.

Stockings and presents!

Midday Clover Point hike.

We stopped by the Cook Street playground on the way home from Clover Point, where we saw kids playing on this crazy zip line.

It took awhile, but eventually Anders gave it a go, and liked it so much he rode it again and again.

Party outfits.

Christmas pudding!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Christmas is coming...

...the goose is getting fat. Well, pheasant, actually. Three of them.

They'll look good on the table.

That's a lot of pheasant! Luckily, we had company.

India's pretty mobile these days.

Someone might have been smitten.

Games were played...

...and krumkake eaten.

This is the first year we went all out on Christmas shows. This is what watching Frosty the Snowman for the first time looks like.
