heading home

Post-fireworks hangover.

Morning play before we say goodbye.

'til next time!

Fast-forward several hours to our layover at O'Hare. The food is distinctly less exciting than the feasts we had in Maine.

Post-9 p.m. in San Francisco is post-midnight in Maine...

fireworks and sparklers

At dusk...

...the fireworks start...

...but they were very far away, and the sparklers were very close. The kids liked the sparklers.

last day

Tomorrow we return to San Francisco... but for now, keep playing!

(If you look at the sliver of Soren's face that you can see, you'll find that he's ecstatic to be playing with Asa.)

just like in the old days

In the old days, televisions were much smaller. But then televisions were replaced with tablets. The old (screen size) is new again.

quiet moments

Sigrid sometimes says that now that we have kids, we take trips, not vacations. But there are moments of vacation within those trips.

Jordan's Snack Bar

Friday afternoon, the Kwundersons drove into Ellsworth for ice cream, visiting Jordan's (where we had lunched earlier in the week) again.

Soren wondered why his ice cream melted so much.

The boys also enjoyed the carousel in back of Jordan's.

grilling time

Friday kicked off the July 4th weekend, so we had burgers for lunch.

We lunched al fresco in the back yard.

The kids retired indoors for post-lunch play.
