Match.com

I was just down in Dallas to participate in a panel discussion at the SMU Dedman School of Law, and I was staying at the Park Cities Hilton. I got up to my room and opened the curtains, and what did I see right across the street: the Match.com headquarters.

Sigrid and I met on Match.com, so this was an interesting coincidence.

Taiko drumming!

Sigrid and I participated in a San Jose Taiko workshop. Sigrid had done this once before (a good friend of hers is part of SJT) a few years ago, and we had seen a Japananese Taiko group, Kodo, perform at Zellerbach a few weeks ago. So for a few hours on a Saturday morning, we learned a bit of Taiko history, basic Taiko kata (form), basic Taiko rhythms, and got to bang on really big drums.

Valentine's Day

Sigrid bought this lovely Valentine's Day wreath from our neighborhood florist...

...and then on Valentine's Day prepared a wonderful, schmancy dinner...

...with a beautifully plated crab salad...

...and filet mignon with a tasty, reduced stock sauce.

All in all, pretty scrumptious.

Pre-Ski Trip 2007

In what is now a Google Legal tradition, TJ graciously offered to host a gathering the night before the Google ski trip at her family's gorgeous cabin in Tahoe City. I, alas, was not very diligent in documenting the event, but here are a couple of shots of the sunset on the lake (and the pictures really don't do justice to the actual scene), and a shot of the also-now-traditional taco bar for dinner.

Boalties in Truckee, Feb. 2-5, 2007

I didn't make it up there until February 3, and thus missed the Friday night gab-fest, alas. But I did arrive on Saturday just in time for a quick trip out to the Tahoe Donner ski area:

While Cristina, Lorenzo, Kristin, Kaya and Tilden hit the slopes...

...I hung out with Julie and Way-Way...

...but Way-Way hadn't taken a nap yet, which caused her some consternation:

Back to Casa Wooley...

...and, after a bit more, the arrival of David, Elspeth and Delaney.

Sunday, it was back to the slopes. First, the small slopes, where Way-Way got some sledding in before we were told that sleds were verboten...

...and then the big slopes, at Alpine Meadows, where Michael took many face plants (thankfully not recorded)...

...followed by more chill time at Casa Wooley:
