Bye bye, Joshua Tree!

We might have to come back here again sometime.

Chofu

One of our favorite things about our Joshua Tree place was the chofu hot tub—a hot tub heated with a small, wood-burning stove.

It took a while to heat up.

You also had to be careful not to let it run too long before getting it, lest it get too hot.

But once you (or your dad) got the temperature right, it was great, though not the roomiest of hot tubs.

We made good use of it.

These guys really liked it.

Joshua Tree National Park: Barker Dam

We visited Joshua Tree National Park a second time, this time checking out Barker Dam.

This looks like a good spot for lunch.

At the end of the hike, we got to check out some petroglyphs.

Rave

The house had some red lights that used used at night. We also played with some curious light toys that the boys got from Auntie Clara. Add in some long exposures, and the result is some pretty entertaining photos.

(The blur of a boy here is Anders.)

Even without the rave-effects, it was gorgeous out at night, with bits of the property lit up with solar-charged landscaping lights.

flowers

Nestled among the rocks, we also saw some flora.
