every two years?

We don't often manage to take a family portrait. Here is our latest—two days ago:

Here is one from two years ago:

And here's one from four years ago:

the cookies have a message

Here are some of the cookies Anders made.

As you might be able to guess, there used to be another "a," but it got eaten before we thought to take a picture. Anders came up with a fix for that.

Nice day for a snack under the redwood.

gobble gobble

friendship soup

The North and South classes will be making soup with a hefty dose of friendship on Friday. In addition to that key ingredient, Soren will be contributing celery.

self portrait

by Soren, who decided on this project at school on his own.

If you look closely, you can see the eyes, mouth and hair.

how the apple crumbles

Sigrid and Soren made some apple crumble.

Soren cut the apples in very uniform slices, and he figured out that if each quarter apple gets cut into three slices, that means each apple turns into twelve apple slices.

After swimming, we hung out on a cold and windy beach for a few hours. So when we got home, we cranked up the fire.

creepy babies

These sit up on a shelf at La Petite Baleen. I never see them get used. Which perhaps is not surprising—would you want to use these?

Our trees got trimmed, and this pile reminded me of the hair sweepings at a barbershop after a haircut.

In addition to the usual trims, we took the redwood down some. It was already topped when we moved in—really, a redwood doesn't make a lot of sense in a dense city neighborhood. But the neighbors behind us wished it was a bit lower, so that it didn't block their views.

Now we have some stools under the redwood.

Boys in Beads

Sunday, November 08, 2015

Made it out to New Orleans for the 2015 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association conference.

Due to a mechanical issue with our plane, we were delayed for about 90 minutes, which meant we had a nice sunset as we arrived.

Lunch at SoBou. Loved the decor (food was good, too!).

Cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe du Monde.

Bourbon Street at night.

Acme Oyster House by day (including a Fried Peace Maker Po'Boy).

French Quarter.

Voodoo Museum.

St. Louis Cathedral (there was a wedding going on, so we couldn't go in).

Andy Wolf playing at Casa Borrega!

The Mezcal Vago Elote poured freely at Casa Borrega.

Post-gala party at Republic.
