Shane and Sophie's wedding

We took off, without kids, to Sacramento for the weekend—Sigrid's second weekend in a row away from home without the kids.

The occasion? One of Sigrid's first students got married! (Sigrid provided the music for the ceremony.) The festivities took place at the Old Sugar Mill.

On Friday night, Shane's mother, Sheila, hosted a cocktail party at the capitol. It's very impressive to see a light like this on the ceiling as you walk into a party.

Sigrid and I learned about a long tradition where at the end of every biennial session, lobbyists and staff try to pitch pennies from the rotunda balcony into Queen Isabella's crown. It's very hard—um, or at least so I assume.
