Gorillas, Elmos and Pirates - oh my!
In a hand-me-down costume (courtesy of the Straghalises), Anders was a fine looking pirate.
The keys are a modern addition.
Just as pirates sometimes raise the Jolly Roger when they commandeer a ship, they also will plant a flag when they conquer a living room.
After a hard afternoon of privateering, nothing hits the spot like an ice-cold bottle.
The master of the ship! Anders is captain of the good schooner the Hannah & Molly. The Hannah & Molly was a real ship. Why is it Anders's ship? That will be revealed at the end of this post.
Is Sigrid in costume? Her sleeves have bells. Bells? Surely that's a costume of some sort. Well, costumes are in the eye of the beholder. It's something we bought in Turkey.
Hm, does that say the master of the schooner is the "Scourge of Nova Scotia"? What ever could that mean??
And here Sigrid displays the fine mast on this ship.
We went over to Agreen's house for some scary festivities. Here, we have Princess Leia (minus her hair), an Elmo (minus the head), a pirate (with head scarf being worn about his neck), and a glimpse of a monkey (headless). You'd almost think toddlers don't care for things on their heads or something.
Anders has acquired a fine six-shooter. His gun safety skills are a bit lacking.
Agreen the gorilla (yes, headless) looks hungrily at Paloma the banana (oh, the indignity dogs must suffer).
Agreen has taken possession of Audrey's banana.
Molly has donned her hair! "Help me Obiwan!"
Elmo squared.
Gorilla - pirate love.
TWO Princess Leias! Daphne decided that Molly must be the holographic projection version of Leia.
Again with that "Scourge of Nova Scotia" thing - what's up with that?
The cat princess has come to visit the headless gorilla and the Scourge.
Fair Oaks was quite a scene. For a while, Anders wasn't sure what to make of it all.
Oh no! Leia's been captured by a witch! Luckily, it turned that Daphne's a good witch.
When in doubt, go for more gorilla - pirate love.
Spooky stuff!

When we got back to Agreen's house, Sigrid and Anders tried a single round of trick-or-treat, just to make sure Anders got the full experience.
Anders and Agreen went nuts over Liam's loot. Neither of them seemed to get that the stuff in there was edible. But it was very shiny, and that was enough.

Ok, so I promised to explain this "Scourge of Nova Scotia" stuff, and why Anders's stroller schooner was named the "Hannah & Molly." Well, you see, in the 18th century, there was a privateer who captained a fine vessel known as the Hannah & Molly. This fellow captured in excess of twenty British ships, and I have to assume many of these were taken in the waters of Nova Scotia, because he did indeed come to be known the Scourge of Nova Scotia. Many generations later, one of his ancestors was named after him - a fine lad named Agreen. Since Agreen was our host for the evening, it seemed only appropriate for Anders to acknowledge this bit of history.
