When we were ready to leave the house today, someone just couldn't wake up.

Slow Food Nation '08

The first annual Slow Food Nation event is this weekend in San Francisco.  We didn't think to buy tickets until they were sold out, but we did swing by the City Hall Victory Garden, which included a bunch of no-ticket-needed SFN booths.

There were a lot of produce stands, and also a long row of prepared food stands. Some of the stuff looked really tasty, like the hand-pulled noodle stand (they weren't pulling the noodles there, just preparing and serving them). But the lines were ginormous, and we didn't feel like standing in line forever.  I know, I know, it's slow food. I'm sure it was great, and I would have loved to try it, but instead we went back to the Castro and bought some sandwiches at A.G. Ferrari (where the kind woman preparing our sandwiches seemed to be a trainee, which meant that our food was slowly prepared...).

Exer-what-er? It's a thingamajig that we got as a hand-me down.

Last time we tried it, Anders was too small. But now he fits just fine. And he seems to like it.

This video is rather long... I hope it's entertaining enough to justify that.

Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve

On Sunday, we went to the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve, in Guerneville. Anders loves trees, so we figured he'd be in heaven. But actually the redwoods themselves didn't seem to do that much for him. Perhaps there wasn't enough foliage that was low enough for him to focus on. But he did like the hike.

Russian River

We joined my sisters and their families for the tail end of the yearly pilgrimage to Russian River. Anders's cousins were happy to see him.









Auntie Clara sang "achim baram" with Anders (he whispered it so softly you could barely hear it).
