Babymoon
We planned to take a "babymoon" in October, over Sigrid's birthday weekend. Alas, she got sick, and we had to cancel. But figured we'd give it one more shot in January, and this time we made it there.
We stayed at the Movie Colony Hotel, a cool boutique hotel in downtown Palm Springs.

On Friday, we drove down to the Salton Sea in our schmancy Mustang convertible (free upgrade from an economy car).
After a visit to the Salton Sea Recreational Area, we drove south to Niland, and then east to Salvation Mountain, which really must be seen to be appreciated fully. Leonard, the artist-in-residence behind Salvation Mountain, is a really sweet guy who will gladly show you around his creations. If you find yourself in the area, we highly recommend dropping in to visit.
We drove back to the hotel along the other side of the Salton Sea, with a quick pit stop in Salton City. If you look closely, you'll see that the sign on this building says "Salton Sea Real Estate."
On Saturday, we visited Empress Zoe,
and had lunch at Norma's at the Parker Palms.
We had dinner at Native Foods, a vegan restaurant that was rated well by Zagat. It was really good!
On Sunday, we drove to Joshua Tree National Park,
and then visited a bizarre place called Pioneertown.
On Sunday night, we had a great dinner at Citron, and then on Monday we ate lunch at Copley's.
All in all, Palm Springs was pretty fun.
